- Take a black and white picture of your baby with just a diaper on lying on white pillows. Blow it up to 11x14 or larger and mat it in a color that matches your decor and hang it above the changing table.
- For a special keepsake, frame his first soccer, football, or baseball uniform in a shadow box.
- Paint your ceiling a color to make it interesting for your baby. You can also paint stars or moon scenes on the ceiling, or even wallpaper it. It adds color without putting a lot on the walls.
- Place your baby bed with the head against the wall so that the bed comes out from the wall. It makes it easy to view the baby from all angles. Also, it makes a small room appear larger.
- If you place a picture on the wall behind the crib, use plexiglass instead of glass.
- Put hanging shelves with pegs above a chest and hang the baby's christening gown on it, along with mom's or dad's silver cups.
- Use a cloth laundry bag instead of a hamper. It does not mildew, and you can add color by using one of your chosen fabrics. Hang it on the door knob.
- Frame the outfit your baby came home from the hospital in: Put it in a shadow box and hang it in the nursery.
- Have a friend, mother, or grandmother make doll clothes out of the fabric used in your nursery bedding and frame them in a shadow box.
- Put a chaise lounge chair in the nursery to relax in while you nurse. Use wicker with a coordinating fabric on the cushion. Or find a used one at a garage sale and recover it in several fabrics to make it fun.
